Home Safety Tips For Women Living Alone

By Richard Armen

Living alone can be an exciting new experience for anyone. Living by your own rules rather than following someone else’s desires and routines can feel liberating, but it also comes with some important safety concerns. Especially if you are a woman, living alone requires more precautions in order to stay safe. In order to minimize safety threats, women living alone should follow these basic security principles:

First, do not advertise that you live alone. Be smart about the information you give out to the general public. Avoid making unnecessary comments about your living situation to anyone, such as the cashier at the grocery store or a new acquaintance you’ve met in any setting. Your mailbox should say only a first initial and last name; the same goes for avoiding identifying information on your answering machine. Keep the curtains closed. An open window giving view to a woman who is constantly alone will make you appear to be an easy target.

Call in for safety checks. Does your mother still say ‘call me when you get home’ anytime you leave her house? Do you ever follow through? If not, you should! The same goes for times when you’re heading out to a date, to the bar, or anywhere else alone, particularly at night. Even though you don’t have a roommate, you can check in with friends. Always make sure that a friend or family member knows where you are at night and when you plan to be home. Start this habit now so that someone will notice if you don’t come home when planned. If you have other friends who live alone, offer to do the same for them.

Don’t let strangers into your home for any reason. If you must call a plumber or repairman, have someone come over so you’re not alone. Never let strangers in if they arrive unannounced, even if they seem to have a really good excuse. Even opening the door to say ‘no’ can be a dangerous threat to your home security, as they can easily overpower you and force their way inside.

Protect yourself and your home with security devices such as window and door alarms and pepper spray. These simple alarms will alert you to anyone trying to come in your home, while pepper spray will reduce your chance of becoming a victim of physical assault. Every woman should have these tools at her disposal, whether living alone or with others.

Date carefully. Never give out your home address to someone you’ve just met; instead, arrange to meet them in a public place, such as a restaurant or coffee shop. If possible, have a friend tag along; at the very least, let someone know where you’re going and who you’re meeting.

Be cautious when in common areas of the apartment complex. Gyms, mail rooms, parking lots, and laundry rooms can be relatively deserted, especially at night, and are often targeted by thieves and other criminals. Talk to the building managers if these areas are not well lit, and always pay attention to your surroundings when there. Never let strangers into your apartment building, and avoid fumbling with your keys by the door.

FAA orders review of Boeing 787 Dreamliners following week of incidents

">
FAA orders review of Boeing 787 Dreamliners following week of incidents

Sunday, January 13, 2013

The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered a review Friday into the design and manufacture of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, following five incidents in five days involving the aircraft and two Japanese airlines.

On Monday, an electrical fire broke out aboard a Japan Airlines 787 at Boston’s Logan International Airport, when a battery pack which powers the auxiliary power unit, for when the plane is on the ground, caught fire. The fire was discovered by maintenance workers after passengers and crew disembarked following their flight from Tokyo’s Narita Airport.

The next day, a separate Japan Airlines 787, also at Logan International Airport, heading to Tokyo, suffered a fuel leak that spilled around 40 gallons, which was spotted by the crew of the aircraft taxiing behind them. “That Japan Air may know it, but they’ve got fuel or something spilling out the outboard left wing. Quite a bit,” said the pilot of aircraft behind them on local air traffic control frequencies.

Wednesday, in Japan, an All Nippon Airways 787, the launch customer for the aircraft, cancelled a flight after a brake problem was reported.

Earlier Friday, two All Nippon Airways suffered separate incidents in Japan. An oil leak was noticed in the engine after one aircraft had landed in Miyazaki, coming from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. Another flight, flying between Haneda Airport and Matsuyama said the pilot’s side window in the cockpit suffered a crack.

The FAA in a statement said “In light of a series of recent events, the FAA will conduct a comprehensive review of the Boeing 787 critical systems, including the design, manufacture and assembly.” Further adding, “The purpose of the review is to validate the work conducted during the certification process and further ensure that the aircraft meets the FAA’s high level of safety.”

According to the statement, “The review will also examine how the electrical and mechanical systems interact with each other.” The Boeing 787 relies more on electrical, as opposed to mechanical, systems than past aircraft from the manufacturer including having electronics operate hydraulic pumps and using electric brakes. Large portions of the plane’s structure use lightweight carbon fiber composite instead of more traditional metal airframe.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said, “The safety of the traveling public is our top priority […] This review will help us look at the root causes and do everything we can to safeguard against similar events in the future.”

“We are confident that the aircraft is safe. But we need to have a complete understanding of what is happening,” said newly sworn-in FAA Administrator Michael P. Huerta. “We are conducting the review to further ensure that the aircraft meets our high safety standards.”

Boeing released a statement saying, “[The company] is confident in the design and performance of the 787. It is a safe and efficient airplane. The airplane has logged 50,000 hours of flight and there are more than 150 flights occurring daily.”

The Perfect Rep Range For Building Muscle}

The Perfect Rep Range For Building Muscle

by

Sean NalewanyjNo matter what you read or who you talk to, everyone has their own opinion of what the “perfect” rep range should be to allow for maximum muscle stimulation and growth. In this article I’m going to clear up the confusion once and for all and teach you the truth about choosing the most effective rep range for optimal muscle-building results. Sets that utilize heavy weight and low reps are without a doubt the most effective means of stimulating muscle growth. For every set you perform in the gym, you should utilize a rep range of 5 to 7. This means that for every set you perform, the weight should be light enough that you can complete 5 reps in good form, but heavy enough that you cannot complete more than 7. What’s so special about 5 to 7, you ask? Well… 1) Each set will only last between 20-30 seconds. Maximizing your muscle gains is all about intensity and efficiency. By utilizing a lower rep range, your sets will only last a short period of time, allowing you to generate 100% mental focus and effort. Training with 100% intensity is critical to stimulating muscle growth and it is much easier to maintain this level of effort for shorter periods of time. You will not have to psyche yourself up for marathon sets lasting minutes on end, but rather for a short burst of all-out effort lasting only several seconds. 2) Muscle stimulation will be maximized. Our bodies are made up of 2 main types of muscle fiber: slow twitch and fast twitch. Slow twitch fibers cannot generate large bursts of power and are utilized during prolonged activity. They have a high tolerance for endurance exercise but do not have a very high potential for increased growth. Fast twitch fibers on the other hand produce large bursts of power and are utilized during short, explosive movements. They contain a large amount of mitochondria (an area in the muscle cell where energy is produced) and have the highest potential for increases in both size and strength. By utilizing a rep range of 5 to 7 you will tap into these extremely responsive fibers and this will result in the greatest amount of muscle growth and strength gain possible. 3) Maximum resistance can be used. By performing only 5 to 7 reps per set, you will enable your muscles to handle heavier amounts of weight than you could with a higher rep range. Building muscle is a byproduct of building strength, and training in a lower rep range is the most effective way to accomplish this. Since your strength will shoot up much faster using 5 to 7 reps per set, so will your muscle size. 4) Lactic Acid production will be kept to a minimum. Training in the range of 5 to 7 will also decrease the amount of lactic acid that is secreted within the muscles. Lactic acid is a metabolic waste product that is produced as the body burns carbohydrates for fuel. Lactic acid accumulates in the muscle tissue at increased rates the longer you exercise. By limiting the amount of lactic acid production you will decrease muscle catabolism and create an environment in the body where greater amounts of energy can be generated. This will translate into greater power output and maximum strength potential. Okay, so we’ve established that a rep range of 5-7 is the absolute most effective means of stimulating muscle growth. However, this does not apply all the time or on every single lift. There are a few select muscle groups that should be stimulated using a slightly higher rep range. These are the calves, abs, forearms and upper traps. These muscle groups are predominantly made up of slow-twitch fibers, and therefore will respond better to higher reps. For this reason, a rep range of 10-12 should be utilized for these muscle groups. Again, this means that the weight should be light enough for you to complete at least 10 reps, but heavy enough that you cannot complete more than 12. Summary: Perform 5-7 reps for the chest, lats, biceps, triceps, shoulders and thighs.Perform 10-12 reps for the calves, abs, forearms and upper traps.

New York City considers stricter regulations on trans fat

New York City considers stricter regulations on trans fat

Thursday, September 28, 2006

The Health Board of New York City on Tuesday presented a plan to ban trans fatty acids (or trans fat) from the eateries in the city. The ban would not involve grocery stores, or natural trans fat that is present in dairy products or meat from ruminants.

The proposal follows a campaign last year to encourage restaurants to cut down on using trans fat themselves, but recent surveys show that the campaign was unsuccessful. In 2003, the city already instituted a smoking ban in restaurants, which was met with protest, but the measure has been copied in many other states since.

In Western countries, most trans fat in food today is the result of industrial processing, and has been linked to coronary heart disease. Frying oils, shortening and margarines with trans fats have easier storing requirements. Artificial trans fat is considered by some experts to be even more dangerous than natural trans fat.

The new limit would be at 0.5 grams of trans fatty acids per menu item, whereas a typical serving of French fries contains about 8 grams. It would be instituted in several phases, allowing time for eateries to adapt.

The plan would also have serious implications for both fast food chains and restaurants. A spokesperson for the New York State Restaurant Association reacted with disbelief, stating that “Labeling is one thing, but when they totally ban a product, it goes well beyond what we think is prudent and acceptable,” referring to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s requirement for food labels to list trans fat, a measure taken last January.

The Boards Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Frieden on the other hand said the ban would be a challenge for cooks, but substitute oils can easily be found. Comparing it to lead paint, he said “It is a dangerous and unnecessary ingredient”, adding that “No one will miss it when it’s gone.”

A similar ban is being considered in Chicago, but would only target companies with annual revenues over $20 million, thereby targeting exclusively major fast-food restaurants. The U.S. brands Wendy’s, Crisco, Frito-Lay, Starbucks, Subway, and Kraft’s have already taken action to remove trans fat from some of their products.

Denmark became the first country in the world imposing strict regulations on trans fatty acids in March 2003. McDonalds consequently started using trans fat-free oils in Denmark, but has not yet switched over in the United States.

A public hearing is scheduled on October 30, and a final vote on the proposal is scheduled for December.

Banned film ‘The Profit’ appears on Web

">
Banned film ‘The Profit’ appears on Web

Sunday, March 23, 2008

Copies of The Profit, a 2001 film blocked from distribution in the United States due to a court injunction won by the Church of Scientology, appeared on the Internet Friday on peer-to-peer file-sharing websites and on the video sharing site YouTube.

Directed by former film executive Peter N. Alexander, the movie has been characterized by critics as a parody of Scientology and of its founder L. Ron Hubbard. Alexander was a Scientologist for twenty years, and left the organization in 1997. The film was funded by Bob Minton, a former critic of Scientology who later signed an agreement with the Church of Scientology and has attempted to stop distribution of the film. Alexander has stated that the movie is based on his research into cults, and when asked by the St. Petersburg Times about parallels to Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard said: “I’ll let you draw that conclusion … I say it’s entirely fictional.”

The film was released in August 2001, and was shown at a movie theatre in Clearwater, Florida and at a premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in France. A Scientology spokesman gave a statement at the time saying “the movie is fiction and has nothing to do with Scientology”. The Church of Scientology later took legal action in an attempt to stop further distribution of the film. The Church of Scientology claimed that the film was intended to influence the jury pool in the wrongful death case of Scientologist Lisa McPherson, who died under Scientology care in Clearwater, Florida.

In April 2002, a Pinellas County, Florida judge issued a court order enjoining The Profit from worldwide distribution for an indefinite period. According to the original court injunction received by Wikinews, the movie was originally banned because the court found that it could be seen as a parody of Scientology. In his April 20, 2002 ruling on the injunction, Judge Robert E. Beach of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Pinellas County, Florida wrote: “…an average person viewing the film entitled The Profit could perceive that it is a parody of the Church of Scientology”.

“To the extent that any person considered as a potential juror in evaluating any issues involving the Church of Scientology, the process of voir dire provides a fair and complete remedy to eliminate any potential juror that may possibly have been influenced to be less than fair and impartial,” added Beach.

Luke Lirot, the attorney for the film’s production company, announced on the film’s website on April 7, 2007 that “We have absolutely no exposure for any repercussions from the court order,” but that the film was still blocked from distribution due to an ongoing legal battle. Lirot wrote: “all that’s stopping the release of the movie is the legal battle with the partner who was compromised by Scientology (Robert Minton) and is currently using his power as partner to stop the release of the film.”

In an October 2007 article, The Times described the film as “banned in the US because of a lawsuit taken out against it by The Church of Scientology,” and Russ Kick’s The Disinformation Book of Lists included the film in his “List of 16 Movies Banned in the U.S.”. An 8-minute teaser segment from The Profit appeared on the film’s website and on the video sharing site YouTube in February 2008, and an attorney representing Bob Minton sent a letter to Luke Lirot requesting that the film clip be taken down. In a response letter, Lirot wrote that “Rather than damage any asset of the LLC, the short clip merely keeps the film in the public eye, and in a positive way.”

On Friday, copies of the film began to circulate on peer-to-peer file-sharing websites and on YouTube. A link related to the film’s appearance on the Internet on the community-based link aggregator website Digg.com had 3,638 “Diggs” – and hit the front page of the site’s Entertainment section on Saturday.

I had nothing to do with this release at all. But I’m happy it’s out there.

On Saturday, Scientology critic and Emmy award-winning journalist Mark Bunker put a streaming version of the film on his website, www.xenutv.com, and encouraged others to watch and discuss the film on a real-time chat channel. In a video posting to YouTube Saturday, Bunker said “I did not do it. I had nothing to do with it … I had nothing to do with this release at all. But I’m happy it’s out there … people are finally having a chance to see it. A lot of people have been curious over the years and there’s been a lot of interest in seeing the film, so finally you can.”

We have all wanted to see this movie that scientology kept hidden away from us. We have all wondered just how damning could this story be that we were banned from watching it.

On the newsgroup alt.religion.scientology, a poster by the username “Alexia Death” commented on the film’s appearance on the Internet in the context of censorship: “It is out! And so it is a WIN if many people review it even if they say it SUCKS! … Being bad is no cause to allow censorship … And being censored is no cause to assume its good”. A post to the blog Blogsreel commented: “We have all wanted to see this movie that scientology kept hidden away from us. We have all wondered just how damning could this story be that we were banned from watching it.”

In a post on Sunday to the message board attached to the official website for the film, attorney Luke Lirot asked that individuals stop distributing copies of The Profit over the Internet. Lirot wrote: “It has been brought to my attention that several unauthorized transmissions and downloads of this protected work have taken place over the last 72 hours. Such actions are copyright violations and are unlawful. I request that any further distribution and/or dissemination of this important work cease immediately and any copies of the work that have been downloaded please be deleted.” In his statement, Lirot recognized the rights of individuals under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, but also said that unauthorized distribution of the film “will only serve to harm the goal of vast distribution”.

Blog postings have attributed the film’s appearance on the Internet as part of the anti-Scientology movement Project Chanology organized by the Internet-based group Anonymous, but this has not been confirmed. Wikinews previously reported on international protests against Scientology which took place as part of Project Chanology on February 10 and March 15. A third international protest by Anonymous is scheduled for April 12. Titled “Operation Reconnect”, the third international protest will focus on highlighting Scientology’s practice of disconnection.

Court ruling upholds expulsion of New York Senator convicted of assault

Court ruling upholds expulsion of New York Senator convicted of assault

Friday, February 19, 2010

A U.S. federal judge upheld the expulsion of former New York State Senator Hiram Monserrate from the New York State Senate in a ruling on Friday. Monserrate had been found guilty in October of misdemeanor assault, in the criminal trial involving an alleged attack on his girlfriend Karla Giraldo.

Monserrate was expelled from the New York State Senate last week by a majority vote of his fellow senators. The result of the vote was 53 to 8 in favor of expulsion.

Federal judge William H. Pauley III denied a request to temporarily block the expulsion. A lawsuit had been filed by Monserrate, which had asked for a reversal of the former Senator’s explusion and in addition sought a block on a March 16 special election for a replacement.

The New York Civil Liberties Union supported Monserrate in the case. The former Senator argued that the act of being expelled from the Senate was not appropriate, as he claimed it violated due process.

the power of a body to determine the fitness of its members is embedded in American democracy.

Judge Pauley ruled, “the question of who should represent the 13th Senatorial District is one for the voters, not for this court.” The judge explained that the voting rights of the citizens of the district formerly represented by Monserrate would not be significantly negatively impacted, due to the proximity of the upcoming special election. Monserrate has stated that he will run in the special election, and he is not prohibited from doing so.

The court’s ruling determined that the expulsion by the New York State Senate was not inappropriate, stating, “the power of a body to determine the fitness of its members is embedded in American democracy.” Judge Pauley noted, “Similar processes to discipline have long existed in deliberative bodies at all levels of government.”

We are gratified that the Court has confirmed our position that the Senate had the authority to expel Mr. Monserrate.

New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo issued a statement in support of the judge’s ruling. “We are gratified that the Court has confirmed our position that the Senate had the authority to expel Mr. Monserrate,” said the Attorney General. According to The New York Times, Monserrate was expected to appeal the ruling of the court.

Monserrate’s misdemeanor assault conviction pertained to an incident where he dragged his girlfriend through the lobby while exiting his apartment building. He was acquitted by a judge of charges of felony assault. Felony conviction would have resulted in an immediate expulsion from the New York State Senate.

Monserrate is the first politician to be expelled from the New York State Senate in almost a century. He is a former New York City police officer. Prior to becoming a member of the New York State Senate, he was a city councilman. He became a member of the New York State Senate weeks after the alleged conflict with Giraldo, and was made chair of the committee overseeing consumer affairs. Along with Democrat Pedro Espada Jr., Monserrate started a shift in control of the Senate by aligning with the Republican Party.

Massage: Recovery After A Marathon

Massage: Recovery After a Marathon

by

Art Gib

After a hard day’s work, sometimes it pays to get a great massage from a local massage therapist. And if for you a hard day’s work is running the Los Angeles Marathon, then an after race massage is the perfect end to get your muscles relaxed and back in shape for the next race.

But for the marathon runner that’s not from Los Angeles, where is he or she going to find a good massage therapist with the skills to perform a specific type of massage? Well, for the out-of-towners, there is this great tool. You might have heard of it. It’s called the World Wide Web. Yeah, I just saw the bulb go off in your head. It’s a great thing isn’t it?

The World Wide Web has helped to close the huge gap between those who are looking for some small niche service and those who provide it. This creates a business for companies to advertise a niche product or service for those small businesses who might not otherwise be able to afford a marketing campaign.

These marketing services appear in the form of searchable databases on specific niche service — massage therapy for example. You can easily find a niche directory by searching for one through your favorite search engine.

So let’s imagine that you’re getting ready to run in the Los Angeles Marathon and you know, from past experience, that you are going to want a massage therapist there at the end of the race to give your tired body a good rub down. Simply search for “Los Angeles massage” and you’ll quickly come across what you’re looking for.

Be sure that the directory you access provides all the pertinent information that you need to select a good Los Angeles massage therapist. A good and well-maintained directory will require their massage therapists to enter in all the information you need, such as:

– The different types of massages they are trained in

– Rates

– Service area

– Whether they are willing to come to you (meet you at the end of the race for example)

Now that you know where to find a Los Angeles massage therapist, you’re all set for the Boston Marathon, New York Marathon, and — if you so dare — the Badwater 135 mile Ultramarathon through the scorching heat of Death Valley.

For the Badwater Ultramarathon, you might want to hire a whole team of massage therapists to follow you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

MyMassageTherapists.com (http://www.mymassagetherapists.com) is an online directory where you can find the perfect

Los Angeles massage

, or for any other city in the U.S. Finding the perfect massage is just a few clicks away with MyMassageTherapists.com. The author, Art Gib, is a freelance writer.

Brazilian Abin director: no proof linking FARC money to PT

">
Brazilian Abin director: no proof linking FARC money to PT

Friday, March 18, 2005

The Head Minister of the Institutional Security Cabinet of Brazil’s General Jorge Felix, and the director-general of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin), Mauro Marcelo de Lima e Silva say that the documents mentioned by the Brazilian magazine Veja may be incorrect. Last weekend, Veja reported that Partido dos Trabalhadores (or PT), the Brazilian ruling party and the party of president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, received 5 million dollars from FARC in its 2002 political campaign. The magazine used documents gotten from Abin itself as a source in their reporting.

Felix testified before a commission of deputies and senators to explain the allegations published by Veja. His statements make the possibility of a congressional investigation commission, as suggested by the deputy Alberto Fraga (PTB), unlikely. The leader of the government, Aloísio Mercadante, said PT will prosecute Fraga for defamation and that he considers the case finished.

The official Abin version is stated on its website. The agency stores and archives all data collected by the intelligence service. Even data that does not fulfill all the Abin criterion for consistency and veracity remain in the Abin archive so they can be re-evaluated in the future. According to Felix, Abin archives may contain data that are not relevant, tendentious or even completely untrue. The documents mentioned by the magazine Veja are a kind of this material. Since Abin cannot guarantee the veracity of these data, they should not be reported.

The general didn’t say whether or not Abin confirmed the meeting between FARC delegates and PT members as stated in the documents. “I can’t speak about that in front of the press”, he added, explaining that the documents are a state secret.

The magazine Veja was very cautious when it reported the story. The article says that they did not find solid evidence to prove that PT received money from FARC. Veja investigated the facts described in the documents and admitted the donation could be untrue:

(…) Veja located the agent who infiltrated in the FARC meeting and it talked to two other employees from the agency [Abin], besides of looking for the left members who participated of the enconteur. The [magazine’s] investigation confirmed the meeting, the place, the date and the persons. It only didn’t find evidences to proof that the money went from the FARC to PT safes.(..) Could it be just a swagger of father Oliverio Medina(…) to appraise his left hosts? Yes, it could. —Veja , “FARC’s tentacles in Brazil”, March 16, 2005, page 46.

Although they found no solid proof relating the money transaction, and although the magazine considered the Abin’s documents might be untrue, Veja said the documents were consistent enough to be sent to the President:

(…)[the documents] are known by their errors and mistakes motivated usually by a anti-communist paranoia(…)The documents reporting the transaction which the FARC promised help to left-wing candidates in Brazil are not free or errors neither. The papers way thought the hierarchy of the intelligence service suggests that the information originated from a experienced spy who is trusted by his superiors. The documents show that their informations have been hard checked. (…) The document 0095/3100 of April 25, 2002, the main one which reports the liaisons between PT and FARC members, has passed thought all the phases and it finished with a Top Secret stamp. That means that its informations had credibility and its contents were enough consistent so it could be sent to the President. —Veja , “FARC’s tentacles in Brazil”, March 16, 2005, page 49.

Some deputies demand further investigations of alleged FARC activities in Brazil. The Brazilian Deputy Arthur Virgílio (PSDB) said: “These investigations cannot stop… I give to PT the benefit of doubt as an institution. However the ideologic political relationship is evident.” [1] The Brazilian Deputy Antero Paes de Barros (PSDB) said: “There must be more clarifications because the State interest is high in this case”.

The FARC and PT are part of the Foro de São Paulo organization created by Cuban President Fidel Castro and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to discuss new strategies for the left in Latin America after the fall of the Berlin Wall and collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe.

PT admits that some of its members have met FARC members in the past, but maintains the FARC donation are untrue. The party said if evidence showing its members received money from the FARC was found, that member would be expelled from the party. They also said if a donation occurred, it would be confirmed by the Brazilian Central Bank’s records, and it has not. PT believes the alleged party relationship with FARC is being used by the political opposition in negative propaganda.

According to the president of the Joint Congressional Commission for the Control of Intelligence Activities, Senator Cristovam Buarque (PT-DF) the investigation is finished. The senator said that the accusation of the alleged donation of 5 million dollars to the PT was a sadepisode because it affected a party’s credibility without anybody seeing any proof.

Three hostages return home to Florida

Three hostages return home to Florida

Sunday, July 13, 2008

Three American hostages – Marc Gonsalves, Thomas Howes, and Keith Stansell – that were being held in Colombia by FARC are now free. They are safely in Florida after their rescue by Colombian forces; 12 other hostages were rescued at the same time. They received care from the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio before being sent home to their families. The men were taken captive when their drug surveillance plane went down in the jungles of Colombia in 2003 – more than 5 years ago. All three of the men were working for a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman Corporation at the time.

Keith Stansell emphasized that while he was grateful to be home, no one should “forget the people that are still there”. “Because of our rescue, there are fellow hostages that are still there,” Stansell said. He reminded those listening that some of the remaining hostages have already been in captivity for 10 years, in squalid conditions. “You wait for a day like yesterday and today, you know, for the end, you… you want it to end,” added Marc Gonsalves.
