Their aim, to demonstrate the telecommunications technology in Taiwan. About seventy world-class operators from the networking industry will be invited to join the Forum Summit.

‘WiMAX’, the 4th-generation networking technology, showed several advantages as a ‘MUST’-have trend, ‘M’ for mobility, ‘U’ for ultra-lows, ‘S’ for smart [or intelligent], ‘T’, not only for thin [or mini] but also for Taiwan because the WiMAX infrastructure in Taiwan leveled up the ICT industry. 3 Minute Speed Dating Can It Work?

Submitted by: Michiel Van Kets

People use speed dating for a variety of reasons, whether it is to make new friends or find people you have things in common with, possible romance, or a night of passion you are after, the decision to go on a speed dating event can bring all kinds of new experiences.

Unless you have been on a speed date before you might be thinking it’s impossible to know if you like someone with only 3 minutes to talk, and it’s a good point to make. 3 minutes goes by very fast so it’s advised you have set questions ready in preparation so no time is wasted by awkward silences as you rack your brain trying to think of what to ask.

Ask thousands of people worldwide and they’ll tell you that speed dating can, and does, work. There are hundreds of stories about how they met their true love, made loads of new friends, and found themselves at the centre of a social group that transformed their life. Even if you don’t meet someone special think of all the fun and great nights out you will have if you’re not speed dating then what are you doing? The alternatives are watching TV alone, cleaning the house and taking the dog for a walk!

The advantages of choosing speed dating over other types of dates is that it is all organized for you, all you have to do is pay the registration fee or booking fee for the particular event you want to attend and turn up on the night. Also it’s safe if you are a woman on her own and, unlike meeting a date by yourself, you are in a safe environment where you can be at ease. Although everyone might be a stranger the events are watched over by the organisers and you never have to be alone during the evening.

Generally we notice people who we find physically attractive, this can be difficult if you go on a blind date or contact someone via the personal columns in the newspapers or online as you haven’t seen what that person looks like until you go on the actual date! Speed dating in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nottingham : Nottingham gives you the chance to meet lots of potential dates and you know within the first few minutes whether you like the look of someone or not, so 3 minutes is sufficient time! If you have a busy lifestyle then there is no time wasted on evenings spent with someone you have just met but realized within the first 10 minutes was going nowhere, or making small talk with someone you are not attracted to in the least.

A speed dating evening is a little like an interview, think of it as a way to weed out anyone you dislike or have no connection with. This leaves you with a few possibilities and you can then take it from there. As the time you have together is so short then it’s best to come prepared, this means have selected questions ready to ask. They don’t have to be too formal or personal either, make them lighthearted but if you really want to know if the person opposite just wants sex or is interested in a lasting relationship then ask away! People at these events are much more direct than general, remember though that they will have questions to ask you too so consider what these may be and have your answers ready.

Speed dating events can be organized in various locations and mostly they are private, the last thing you want is to be overlooked by a busy bar where anyone can watch as you move from table to table and ‘interview’ your partner, that’s really going to put you off. You don’t want people gawking so check the event before you book.

After each introduction, members mark on their scorecard whether or not they would be keen to have a real date with the other person. How the game ends depends on how the event has been organized, typically the organizers check the scorecards and match up which partners are commonly attracted to each other. Some organizers only give the women the men’s phone number whilst others give either sex the interested party’s number to be followed up on for a date.

Generally events are fun and people relax as the evening goes on, once the dating part is over you can spend time in the bar getting to know people better if that’s what you wish. If you don’t meet anyone you are interested in at your chosen event then there’s no need to panic there are plenty more in your local area. The more http://www.ditchordate.com/speed-dating-nottingham.php : speed dating nottingham events you attend the more confident you will become and confidence leads to attention.

Controversial cancer test gains support

Controversial cancer test gains support

Sunday, August 14, 2005

Some cancer specialists have stepped up calls for smokers and ex-smokers to undergo advanced screening for lung cancer . They reacted to the recent deaths of Peter Jennings and Barbara Bel Geddes and the disclosure that Dana Reeve has lung cancer by urging people to have their lungs screened with special helical CT chest scans.

Because health insurance plans do not cover such screening, anxious patients who can afford it are paying about $300 for the test out of pocket. The American Cancer Society discourages using the advanced CT scan technique for screening because doctors do not yet know how to interpret findings of small lesions. A helical scan can show lumps as small as 2 millimetres in diameter, but doctors do not know what to make of such lesions. The tumors may not actually be cancerous, and even small cancers may spontaneously remit or may grow so slowly that surgery, radiation or chemotherapy would do far more harm than good. Preliminary results of a large ongoing study, expected within a year, may provide tentative guidelines on when to perform a biopsy and when CT screening would be worthwhile.

Smoking one pack of cigarettes daily for 20 years or more brings a 50 percent chance of dying from lung cancer. For any smoker, 10 years of abstinence cuts the risk in half. Women are more vulnerable than men even if they don’t smoke. Environmental pollutants work with smoking to increase risk. People with affected parents or siblings are 2–3 times more likely to fall ill with lung cancer. A malignant tumor can grow silently for years. In the United States by the time it is recognized a lung cancer has spread in 3 out of 4 patients. Routine chest X-ray screening does not improve survival rate. Although patients treated after their lung cancer has shown up in a highly sensitive helical (also called “spiral”) CT scan are much more likely to survive, this may only be because small cancers grow very slowly or would cause no trouble even without treatment.

On the other hand, some cancer experts already strongly support performing the screening. They point out that prompt treatment of lung cancer clearly improves prognosis and that an equivocal scan can be repeated after some months to see if a lesion has enlarged. Furthermore, a decision not to wait for conclusive science but to undergo a helical scan would be supported by consideration of a patient’s age, family history, history of smoking and other risk factors. Annual scanning has been recommended for people over age 50 who have smoked 1 pack daily for 30 years or 2 packs for 15 and who also have a known lung condition.

Over the weekend, millions of Americans faced the new ban of online gambling.

The legislation was attached by Rep. Bill Frist to the Port Security bill.

Many of the public companies that offer online gambling have been quick to react and give their outlooks on the legislature. Party Gaming and 888 among others have said that they will shut down all U.S. operations if President Bush signs the bill into law. This sent online gambling stocks tumbling with Party Gaming leading the way with a 55% decrease in market value.

Candidates make campaign stop at trade fairs ahead of 2008 Taiwan Presidential Election

Friday, November 9, 2007

Thursday, November 8, two trade shows, named MEDIPHAR Taipei at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC) and Taipei Audio Video Fair at the TWTC and The Grand Hotel, opened in Taipei, Taiwan. Some politicians and government officials chose these events as an opportunity to promote their parties and campaign-coalitions ahead of the 2008 Taiwan Presidential Elections.

From the incumbent Pan-Green Coalition, President of the Republic of China Chen Shui-bian, Premier of Republic of China Chang Chun-hsiung, and spokesman for the Executive Yuan Jung-tai Cho visited the two shows successively and were innundated by Taiwanese media. President Chen avoided answering questions on the hot topic of commodities prices, addressing only those about the medical industry development, overseen by Sheng-mao Hou, Minister of Health.

From the Pan-Blue Coalition, 2008 vice-presidential candidate, and former Premier, Vincent Siew participated the opening of the Taipei Audio Video Fair at The Grand Hotel. He criticized on the economy policy and remarked: “The ruling party [DPP] doesn’t have a good track record, and some industries weren’t be supported in timely manner so that they lost some opportunities. I sincerely hope the government can appropriately assist the audio and video industries in marketing good brands and products to the world.”

Also, current Democratic Progressive Party legislator Wang Shih-chien was invited to give a violin performance and sing a Taiwanese song. The events at the Taipei World Trade Center proved to be quite a platform for the candidates running in the 2008 Taiwan Presidential Elections.

Sports Betting Picks: Winning Strategies You Can Take To The Bank

In the world sports betting picks, there are obviously no guarantees. However, there are certainly strategies that can help you move the odds in your favor. In addition to subscribing to sports betting picks from winning professionals, these are a few of the strategies that pros use to guarantee they always come out ahead. Look into the possibilities and see if you can apply at least one to your betting strategies for the 2013-2014 NFL season or your NCAA picks for the current season.Arbitrage BettingArbitrage betting is seen by some gamblers as a no-lose strategy for sports betting picks. Professional betters – including those who make their living betting on the rise and fall of stocks on the New York Stock Exchange – use arbitrage extensively. They call it “offsetting risk.” You probably know it as “hedging your bets.” Essentially, arbitrage betting means placing opposing bets so that no matter which way a game goes, you’ll win one of your bets. There’s one caveat, though. The trick in arbitrage betting is to make sure that your winnings on either bet will be greater than your loss on the other. In order to do that, research the best odds at the various sportsbooks. The truth is, bookmakers are constantly adjusting their betting lines as new information comes in. Part of the information used by each bookmaker is how many bets are being placed for or against a particular position, and that information can be substantially different from one bookmaker to the next. Shop around to find exploitable arbitrage positions for every game in the 2013-2014 NFL season. And of course, you can save yourself a lot of time and research energy by subscribing to a service that shares pro football picks for each game – including which books are offering the best odds on each position.Value BettingIf you pay attention to the game and the odds, value betting can bring you a consistent return on your money for sports betting picks. This strategy only works if you know enough to spot when a sportsbook has set the odds too high for a particular game or outcome. For example, the books may have an NCAA game at 5 to 1 odds for the favorite, but you believe that the underdogs actually have a one in three chance of winning the game, or at the very least, of beating the spread. A bet on the underdog in that situation will offer a substantially better return and is worth the chance. Of course, the opposite also holds true: you should also recognize poor value bets and avoid them like poison.Flat Betting SystemFlat betting is simple. It’s exactly what it sounds like. You figure out how much your bank is for the 2013-2014 NFL season or the NCAA college football season and divide it by the number of games on which you plan to bet to get the amount you’ll wager on each game. You’ll wager the same set amount for each game whether you win or lose. If you win more than you lose, you’ll come out ahead. There’s no real secret to winning with a flat betting system, but it’s easier said than done. You need to make great choices on your sports betting picks. There are a couple of different ways to do that, either on their own or in combination. You can either choose the bets that will pay off with the highest profits, in which case, you could conceivably come out ahead even if you lose more bets than you win. The other is to choose more winners than losers. In fact, according to most betting experts, you only have to bet right 52.3 percent of the time to come out ahead with a flat betting system.Your best ally for the 2013-2014 NFL and NCAA football season is a reliable source of winning sports betting picks. Do your research to find a pro who consistently gives great tips and combine the advice you get with your own knowledge and your system to pocket some extra change this year.

Former Costa Rican president sentenced to jail on charges of corruption

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Rafael Calderon, the former president of Costa Rica, was sentenced to five years in prison after he was convicted of corruption while in office.

Calderon, who served as head of state from 1990 to 1994, is the first ex-president to be tried for corruption. He had been arrested in October 2004, charged with taking an illegal commission after the government bought medical equipment from Finland. Calderon denied the charges.

The former president was convicted on Monday. The head of the social security programme under Calderon, Eliseo Vargas, was sentenced to five years in jail as well. Prosecutors had originally wanted a 24-year jail term for Calderon.

The judge hearing Calderon’s case, Alejandro Lopez McAdam, refused requests by the prosecution to send Calderon to jail immediately, pending the outcome of an expected appeal.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inaugurates the “Defence Development Exhibition ‘Self-Defence-2021′”

On Monday, on the 76th anniversary of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea’s founding, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inaugurated a new weapons exhibition in the Three-Revolutions Exhibition House, Pyongyang. Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported the event next day. According to Chinese travel agency Young Pioneer Tours, North Korea closed its border to tourists in January 2020.

The outside ceremony started when Kim Jong Un arrived. Attendees, mainly Korean People’s Army (KPA) officers, party officials and invited defence industry personnel, greeted Kim with “Manse!” (Long Live!). High-ranking party officials Choe Ryong Hae, Jo Yong Won and Hyon Song Wol, premier Kim Tok Hun, Marshal Pak Jong Chon and Kim Jong Un’s sister Kim Yo Jong were also there.

A musical performance by the KPA military band and the Orchestra of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) came before a KPA martial arts demonstration, in it brick breaking with bare fists, bending steel bars with the sternum and jumping over cars. A flypast closed the outdoor sequence, rendering the colours of the North Korean flag with smoke on the sky.

Kim Jong Un’s opening speech indoors remarked that “the US tacit sponsorship [of South Korea] continue to damage the inter-Korean feelings and emotions” and that “South Korea has been unhesitant on several occasions in disclosing its ambition for securing military supremacy over us under the preposterous excuse of deterring threat from us”, but called their military build-up a war deterrence effort. He also called on people to support to the defence capabilities of the country, and dedicated the event to analyze their recent achievements in the field.

An award ceremony for servicepersons and others followed with high decorations handed over, including the Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il Orders, the Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il Prizes, the title of Labour Hero, the Order of the National Flag and watches signed with the names of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

After touring the exhibition, Kim Jong Un met with the jet pilots who performed earlier, then left in a limousine.

The exhibition featured missiles, including editions 14, 15 and 16 of the Hwasong intercontinental ballistic missile series.

In reaction on Tuesday, Moon Hong-sik, a spokesperson for South Korea’s Ministry of Defence said that both the United States and South Korea are analyzing the displayed equipment.
